The thermostat will operate using 24V AC or two AA batteries. When the two AA batteries are installed the thermostat will continue to run if the 24V AC fails.

This thermostat has many great features not found on many competitors. One Item I insisted on was the differential temp. adjustment this unit offers. It's the ability to adjust the temp. that the thermostat runs the furnace within a cycle. Ex: set to 68*, you can adjust the temp. Operating range from 1* to 3* differential.
It's slightly harder to program the schedule than my previous programmable (another manufacturer brand), but the savings in fuel is well worth it.
This is the 2nd Robertshaw I've owned in 25 years, and would recommend it to others for comparable features and cost.

This was easy to install, but I needed to call Customer Service to get it programmed. I didn't see the directions she gave me in the insert, but oh well. It's up and running GREAT! No more AC running for 2 hours straight to get my place cool. No more turning on and staying on when it doesn't need to. And no more 10 degree difference from the outside to the inside of my house.

i am just a regular home owner who likes to do my own work. i am not a professional electrician or plumber, but found most things are easy if you try. with me i replaced and older version with the new. usally don't read the directions but in this case i did for proper wiring hook-up. so, took about ten minutes to read and comprehend and another 10 -15 to get my tools needed and install. right the first time, turned it over to my wife for progaming and everything has been fine. again, i am not a professional, just a do it yourself type guy. the product was [...]easy to install and worked properly on the first shot. so i had a very good experiance and would reccommend to others.thanksbob cottrell from rhode island

Good 7 day unit for the price. I don't like the fact that you need to open the door to activate the light.
It also doesn't mount as firmly to the wall as most others. The front doesn't seem to snap into the base very well, so when you open the door it feels like it wants to pull the unit out of the base. I'd probably go with the Bareburn if I did it over.
