Fairly easy to install. The hard part was the connection to a very old furnace. The old furnace only had two wires to connect that were unlabeled, and had no documentation. Took a little trial and error, but finally found where the two wires connect to on the ecobee. Ince i figured that out it worked great.

I have a somewhat unique system, radiant floor heat as stage one and electric forced air as stage two. I also have single stage cooling. I have temperature sensors for the floor slab temperature and outdoor temperature.
This is in my vacation home that I may be at for the weekend, a couple of weeks in a row or that I may not go near for a month.
A traditional programmable thermostat just won't cut it. With the Ecobee stat I can go online and adjust or monitor the status anytime I need to. I can use my smartphone to adjust the temperature while I'm on my way to the house!
Best of all, Ecobee's tech support. They tell you up front that you should have a contractor install the thermostat and will even help you find one in your area. I like to all my own work and installed the stat myself. The multi-stage wiring had me scratching my head however. Over the course of a couple of days (I was in no hurry, I wasn't at the house) Ecobee's tech support and I communicated back and forth talking about my installation. I sent them wiring diagrams to review, they made some recommendations and now, it works perfectly!
Ecobee's tech support is top notch.

I use the ecobee smart thermostat to remotely control and monitor our heating system via the internet. Review of the instructions and installation took about 6 hours including changing my wiring from 2 conductors to 4. The only difficulty was determining where the 2 conductors from the furnace connected to the interface. It took me a few minutes to figure out that my boiler transformer/thermostat wires connect to W/OB and R/H. Programming via the web site portal was intuitve and simple although slightly sluggish. I love being able to monitor the system remotely while we are away especially via my iPhone.

I work away from home 4 days a week and I used to have to come home in the winter to a cold house. Now I program the thermostat and if my plans change and I want to come home early, I can change my settings over the internet. I now have 2 units installed and controlling both heat zones in my home. I couldn't be happier.

Super easy web, device & iPhone interfaces. Had it installed and running within 2hrs. In the three weeks I have been using the T-stat the only improvement I would like to see is the ability to select a date range on the data trends. Currently there is only a three day view. Looking forward to better understanding how my home responds to the delta-t between indoor and outdoor temps so I can optimize the set points.

Web interface works as promised and shows all the information in a very easy to understand manner. Hold temps very well, easy to program. We never used a programmable thermostat before the Ecobee. Set up is very intuitive.

As part of a HVAC update, we installed an Ecobee Smart Thermostat. The installation was done by the HVAC installers and did require some rewiring of the main system & humidifier to properly support the control module/thermostat operation. I could have handled it myself, but was glad I asked them to do it. The installer commented on how easily the system was to configure after he had it all wired. I had one issue while configuring it for our network - which is why the 4 stars instead of 5. I was able to resolve that myself & it has been flawless since. It has no problems hooking into our existing router signal even though it's at the other side of the house. Since the install, it's been great and the monitoring & programming is nice & easy to pick up. I had one question that I submitted to Ecobee support though their web site. No more than 10 minutes later, my phone rang with an answer - I was impressed. I was able to update the setting remotely from my office.

The ecobee is such a great implementation of a great idea. It works great even on my old heatpump. I'll soon be ordering 2 more for my main house.

This is a really great and flexible thermostat for people who really like to control their HVAC.I was looking for something that would drive my whole house humidifier as well as the HVAC. Then I got interested in internet connectivity, since I'm always fussing with the temperature. I looked far and wide and wasn't really satisfied until I found this thing. It's really amazing in what it can do. It has pretty much every feature you can imagine, and it's the only thermostat I've ever seen that actually lets you add more setbacks above the usual four.It's not the greatest thing to program from the thermostat itself. The touch screen sensitivity is weird and it often mis-interprets my touch command. This doesn't really bother me thought because I do all my programming from the web portal. It's so easy and powerful, I don't know how I ever lived without it.It might be tricky for the typical person or even contractor to install since the guts of the thing are in the basement next to the furnace.
