I am a novice at home repairs, but found the Aprilaire #56 to be simple to install. It helped that I was replacing an older Aprilaire humidistat so the the plenum was already cut and the new Arpilaire fit in the existing hole cut.

This was a replacement unit so plenum opening was already cut. Only needed to drill new screw mounting holes. The builder installed the humidifier control in manual mode so for many years I had to constantly go down to the basement to adjust the setting according to outdoor temps. I installed the outdoor temp sensor that comes with Aprilaire #56 and it performs flawlessly. Set and forget with constant humidity control.

Replaced original Aprilaire #56 humidistat that came with my Aprilaire 600 humidifier kit (professionally installed); original #56 lasted only through original 5-year warranty period, then failed shortly thereafter--needed replacement less than 30 days after original unit went out-of-warranty. Otherwise, it was a no-problem, hands-off performer. Replacing the #56 was an easy, simple installation. But should this humidistat repeat the same immediate post-warranty failure in five years, I *will not* replace it with another Aprilaire #56.

Used this to replace OEM unit that came with April Aire 560 that quit. Used existing outside Temp probe - ten minute job. needed new holes but gasket covered old ones. wiring was a direct 1:1. Works like new.

Simple install, only 4 screws and a couple of wire connections. Exact replacement for the old one I had to replace. Looking forward to many years of continued service out of this one.
