I'm a big fan of products that do what they advertise. I ended up installing an NT10e and NT20e for the two systems in my house. Directions were straight-forward, and I now have access to all of my HVAC controls via the web. Surprisingly the web pages are even legible on my Blackberry. If you need Internet-enabled thermostats, I recommend these highly. And let's face it, you need Internet-enabled thermostats.

Comments about Proliphix Proliphix NT10e Programmable Internet Thermostat:
I replaced a set of Aprilaire thermostats with NT10e's. The NT10e is a good, basic, networked thermostat. Does what I need, easy to install, easy to network.A few caveats: first, be careful installing in a bedroom because the LCD panel does not shut off. It is "bright" when you are pushing buttons, and then "dims". However, the dim mode is pretty bright in a bedroom at night. Proliphix Customer Support suggested putting car window tint film on the display. How about if they just update the software to turn off the display, perhaps as a programmable option? The second caveat that I miss from the Aprilaire setup is that Aprilaire's software draws graphics of the history of heating, cooling and fan usage. When you are away, you can see when the HVAC is running and for how long. NT10e only gives minutes of run time since the last reset. This should also be an easy software application to provide.Third, you cannot set up use profiles (morning, evening, away, etc.) once that apply to all networked thermostats. You have to program each one individually.Maybe this is solvable using Proliphix's remote support, not sure, but I don't want to poke holes in my firewall for the thermostats. It should be available as a simple software application that runs on one of my own computers inside my firewall.Other than that, the NT10e is a good unit so far. I have 3 of them using an EPA60 to power them.Incidentally, I dumped Aprilaire because their network unit (8825) failed three times, and at [$] a pop, I'm fed up with their unreliable product.

Comments about Proliphix Proliphix NT10e Programmable Internet Thermostat:
I have had this product for about 4 weeks now, and my wife and I went on vacation for 10 days during a pretty cold stretch in Chicago and I kept monitoring the temp at home from my cell phone, then when we returned as we got off the plane I took the temp off hold and we walked in to a warm house. My wife has already said this was the best money we spent on the house. I have also found myself setting the thermostat down when we go out for a couple of hours and bumping it up before we return. The setting up of the home networking can be difficult for a novice, I had no problems, but I am an IT professional, but the directions I read were very accurate. Real rating 4.5 stars not perfect, but pretty close.

This produst is much more than a thermostat. It is on online device that contains a web server. As such it requires either some computer savy or excellent instructions to install. I can honestly say that the documentation available for this product is one of the best examples for how instructions should be written. Very well organized and very thorough.

Comments about Proliphix Proliphix NT10e Programmable Internet Thermostat:
The thermostat worked excellent right out of the box. It found an Ip address and was accessible immediately on my local area network. Updated my router's port forwarding to allow logging in directly to the thermostat via the Internet without using the company's website. Works flawlessly. The operation of it works just like a normal thermostat on the wall.

Comments about Proliphix Proliphix NT10e Programmable Internet Thermostat:
I installed this in my vacation home in northern Michigan. It is so much nicer to arrive to a warm house when it's 20 degrees outside. Installation was not difficult except to get the port forwarding thru my router. I called technical support at Proliphix. The tech was able to complete the installation & have me up & running in no time.

Comments about Proliphix Proliphix NT10e Programmable Internet Thermostat:
I have a vacation home in the mountains that is a log home. In the winter, the temperature drops to almost zero. I needed a thermostat that would maintain a constant temp. above freezing, and also allow me to heat up the home prior to the family's arrival. Since the warm up time can be as much as 4 hours, this product is perfect. I can adjust the temperature FROM MY IPHONE, and when we get there the home is toasty-warm.
I spent less than an hour installing the unit, and another hour or so configuring my router to make it accessible
This home needs an IP thermostat!

Comments about Proliphix Proliphix NT10e Programmable Internet Thermostat:
Although the hardware is well designed and fully functional, the software/firmware/web interface needs a little attention. Specifically, the web interface.
I typically install these units in summer homes, where the client needs to cool the house down before they arrive. I think that the web interface should offer the user a simple login screen followed by only the temperature adjustments for all of the users' devices, rather than the current 'screen o' numbers'. It's all perfectly functional now, but it just seems a bit overcomplicated when I explain to my client the steps required to change the temperature, and the fact that they have to do it for each device (some homes have 10 or 15 or more)
Reducing the amount of information on each web page would be a great start to reducing the clutter and confusion. The ability to change all of the devices at once is also high on my wish list.
If you only need one or 2 of these for your space, then the above issues are not a big deal. For systems with many zones however, it can take quite some time to go through each device, find the temperature adjustment page, change the temperature, submit the change, wait for the change to get accepted, then move on to the next one.

I installed two of these at a vacation home 1300 miles away. Wireless capability would make them perfect (although perhaps less reliable)- but as long as you can get a CAT-5 cable from the thermostat to your PC or router, you will be in business. All I need to do is log on and change the settings before I leave for the airport- and now arrive to a perfectly climate controlled home. The high/low temp email alert is a great feature as well.
