Works great so far!
Installation was fairly easy for a milivolt system.
It could have been made a little less fragile though.
The wire screw fasteners seemed a bit smallish;
I had to take care not to over tighten anything.
The battery door pops open easily too.
But for my needs it will do.
I was able to control the temperature ranges so no extravagant usage will occur, and that is a great feature.

Easy to install, best bet is to order the faceplate. Program it first a day ot two before you install it, then simply mount the faceplate, the thermostat, and move on to the next project!!

Bought and installed 12 of these units. I own a rental villa in the tropics and had problems with guests setting the AC to crazy low temps, which caused them to run continuously (huge electric bills). Installation was straightforward, and units appear to be working perfectly. Aside from the temp limit feature, I like the backlight button which makes the display readable at night. Also bought/installed the mounting wall plates which were perfect for hiding the holes from the old thermostats. Only two tiny complaints: 1) It can be hard to snap the unit shut - there's a little tab which needs to engage just right; 2) The little battery door is kind of flimsy, and flops open on its own sometimes - I plan to tape it shut anyhow, so no big deal. Overall, I'm very, very satisfied with this product. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

I use this to control the heat at a set point for a rental property. It is very easy to set up at say 68 degrees and install. My one complaint is after it is on the wall if you decide you want to change the set point it is very difficult to open while it is hanging on the wall. My advice is be sure of the temperature you want to set it at before you hang it to the wall.

I installed four Thermostats one in each Unit.
I own a four Apartment building and I know that now my Tenants will not set the Thermostat up to 95 the way they used to. I love it.

I placed one in 13 units I recently purchased. On a 60 degree day, I had one tennant have her heat set on 78! and we are paying the bill.

We have now set a top limit and have only 1 complaint; guess who from. It is nice that the top limit instructions are not in the handbook. My son (13 years old) set all of the limits which took about 5 minutes per unit.

Landlord here, using these to limit heat to tenants which I pay for. This is an easy to set up unit, design is perfect for this type of application, good price. Installation is pretty easy so those are plusses. The quality of the manufacturing was less than perfect. I installed 6 of these and there was some variability. The battery cover on 2 wouldn't stay closed when installed (a problem since it's on the front of the unit and the batteries were exposed) probably because the wall might have had a slight imperfection and the back of the unit flexed slightly and that battery door is just very sensitive. I backed off the installtion screws and adjusted the unit until the cover would stay closed but a stronger closure on the little door there would have been more forgiving. The temperature buttons might need breaking in but 2 tenants commented, and I agree, that you really have to press the temperature buttons hard and hold them down to get the unit to respond, it's not a hard click, which again would have been better. For a unit in this price range, I was pretty satisfied. I recommend ordering the backplates for a cleaner look which I did not do initially.

The Braeburn Model 1000TL 1 Heat/1 Cool Tamper Proof Thermostat works great. I used it on a 3-unit forced hot air building, the installation was simple and direct. Changing the temperature limit is appropriately involved. The 1000TL should also work well with a forced hot water system.

Another building which is steam heated was a bit trickier. Steam valves need to be powered off. This demands an extra relay, fortunately one was in place (RIBU1C relays are $12-25). The tech assistance at Braeburn is friendly, knowledgable and immediate.

This product and the service earn only praise. Thank you Prothermostats for making the 1000TL available.
