What do the different programming choices mean (24 hour, 7 day, 5+2, 5+1+1)?
All programmable thermostats help homeowners save on energy costs by “setting back” the heating or cooling setpoints during times when a home is unoccupied, or when the homeowner is asleep. For example, a homeowner could program a thermostat to lower the temperature in the home to 60 degrees while he/she is at work and then raise the temperature to 70 degrees when he/she returns home. The thermostat could then set the temperature back to 65 degrees when the homeowner is sleeping and then raise the temperature to 72 degrees when the homeowner wakes up. Different programming options provide different degrees of flexibility in meeting a homeowners’ lifestyle.
1 Day
1day program style has only 1 program, and it’s the same every day of the week. Typically, 4 different program periods are offered (wake, leave, return, sleep).
5+2
The 5+2 program style contains 2 separate programs. This program style is best suited to people who have the same schedule for 5 days in a row (MON-FRI) and then separate schedule for 2 days in a row (SAT/SUN). An example of this is a person who works five days a week and then has two days off.
PROGRAM 1 – Monday-Friday – 4 periods per day (wake, leave, return, sleep)
PROGRAM 2 – Saturday and Sunday - 4 periods per day (wake, leave, return, sleep)
5+1+1
The 5+1+1 program style contains three separate programs. It is the same as above except there is a separate program for Saturday and Sunday.

PROGRAM 2 – Saturday - 4 periods per day (wake, leave, return, sleep)
PROGRAM 3 – Sunday - 4 periods per day (wake, leave, return, sleep)
7 Day
7 day program style has 7 separate programs for all 7 days of the week and provides the most flexibility. Typically, 4 different program periods are offered (wake, leave, return, sleep).
